Root is growing! Since launching in 2022, the last few years have seen us take on a variety of exciting projects, new clients and new collaborations.

Now we are proud to announce that Chris Seed has recently joined us as Creative Director.

Prior to joining Root, Chris collaborated with us on several exciting and cutting edge projects in the world of low carbon web design.

Our websites for the Museum Data Service and FareShare’s ‘Where’s The Food?’ manifesto being two standout projects.

About Chris

Chris is graphic and web designer who has been working within the digital design industry for 15 years. Having worked across the board from branding design to editorial to web design, he brings a wealth of creative experience to Root.

Chris first set up Pine Design Studio in 2014 with the vision of working alongside clients who were making positive changes in the world. This allowed for charities, educational institutions and ethical organisations to get highly creative outcomes from a knowledgeable designer who solely catered for their industries and ethics.

“I’ve worked alongside Paul at Root on some fantastic projects over the last couple of years. It was a breath of fresh air to find someone within the design and digital space that truly shared the same ethics and goals as I did.

So when the idea of growing Root came around then it seemed the logical next step.

Our skillsets are vastly different, but we share the same vision for our client’s projects; to work on interesting, meaningful projects that function perfectly for the intended audience and reduce the overall environmental impact of the client and the wider digital sector.

I’m truly excited for the future, where we can push the studio forward and test our abilities alongside like-minded clients.”

Welcome aboard

Our founder Paul said “I’m really delighted to have joined forces with Chris and turned Root into a limited company.

We’ve been collaborating on projects for several years now as individual studios so by combining our complimentary skill sets we both agree we’ll be able to provide a better service for Root’s existing clients and help more organisations minimise their digital impact on the environment.

I’m incredibly excited about the work we’ll continue to do together.”
